Tension

Don't get me wrong I think tension is so very necessary to stories. I think that it is one of the key components to any piece that has a fighting chance. The problem that I am struggling with when it comes to tension or descriptions of certain scences is that it is very hard for me to conceivably write a short story when it is so very necessary to have details and tension in order to create the story. I think at times as well that if you have to much description, though the tension could be there, the description after description, may bog down the potential of the story. I think that my main struggle is finding that middle ground of all of the wonderful aspects that Sellers has contributed and brought about simply to the writing world. I want to be the kind of writer that can incorporate all of these different aspects gracefully without someone having to point out and say..."yes this is definitely her energy piece." Etc. Now I know that the world is not perfect, but I like to hope and dream. But I would love to learn how to generalize without it being overbearing, to intensify without that being overbearing. Oh, the constant struggle of the fine line...
