bloggin
I am very pumped about break at the moment. I got some great feedback on my piece of writing on Monday. I found that there were less complaints about style and more about just adding content. I also found that people had more fun commenting on this story because the topic was more interesting. An affair never keeps anyone quiet. My favorite suggestion was to call my main woman character a "milf." I also liked the suggestion of making my writing more uncomfortable before the sex scenes. Because that is after all how the main character is feeling. Certain areas needed to be more dramatic- Overall I think the group could relate to the story because that is such a popular topic on tv and in movies. When I think about what is always written about it usually has something to do with relationships/ and or sex scandals. I think it's important as young writers, when writing about these kind of cliches, to learn how to expand on them in our own way. I also realized how much I am inspired in my writing by everyday things that I can expand and put into my writing. My stories may consist of five or so expanded recollections of somethign that occured in my own life. I think this is very effective when trying to write fiction and still make it sound realistic.
